Candace Short, DNP, CRNP, is a certified women’s health and family nurse practitioner with more than 15 years of experience treating patients in the Wiregrass area. She treats chronic conditions, such as diabetes and hypertension, as well as acute illnesses such as sinus infections and flu. She also cares for women’s health needs, such as annual pap smears, birth control or hormone therapy. Candace sees men, women and children ages 10 and older and is accepting new patients at Dothan West Family Medicine.
In addition to a longstanding career caring for patients, Candace has helped develop future clinicians by serving as a nursing instructor for Wallace Community College’s ADN nursing program and an assistant professor for Troy University’s BSN nursing program as well as the University of South Alabama’s MSN and DNP programs.
Candace earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Troy University and a master’s degree in nursing with a nurse practitioner certification in women’s health from the University of South Alabama. After earning her master’s degree, she once again attended Troy University to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice and later became a certified family nurse practitioner in addition to her women’s health nurse practitioner certification.
